Deborah Murphy qualified as a nurse in 1986 and has a background in clinical nursing leadership and management in oncology, haematology, bone marrow transplantation and specialist palliative care.
Deborah is currently the Directorate Manager of the Specialist Palliative Care Team at the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Since June 2003 Deborah has sessional commitment to the DOH National End of Life Care Programme as National Lead Nurse - LCP to promote, sustain and disseminate the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP) For the Dying Patient. She currently is a member of the National End of Life Initiative Steering Group.
In November 2004 she became Associate Director of the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool which is a partnership between the Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool and the University of Liverpool, with a satellite unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospitals. It has been created in recognition of the close working partnership between the three organisations and the expansion of the educational portfolio and research programme that has been achieved in recent years. The main research themes are care of the dying, ethics and medical education.
Deborah is currently undertaking an MBA.
