What is the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool ?

The Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool (MCPCIL) is a partnership between Marie Curie Cancer Care, the University of Liverpool and The Royal Liverpool University Hospitals

The Institute is located is part of the Division of Neurosciences and in The Faculty of Medicine at The University of Liverpool. It is based at the Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool with a satellite unit at The Royal Liverpool University Hospitals within the Directorate of Specialist Palliative Care and is an exciting collaboration between the Voluntary Sector, University and NHS with a multi-professional profile.

Our approach is to build on the strengths of the partnerships that are already diverse and dynamic, while identifying and responding to changing needs. We aim to make a significant and measurable contribution, through knowledge transfer and related educational and research activities in support of our key themes.

The Institute is therefore committed to programmes that support service improvement, education and research within an academic framework that will promote sustained clinical improvement in palliative and specialist palliative care support at the bedside.
