Dr Ruthmarijke Smeding

Has a PhD in educational science and has specialised in the area of palliative care and bereavement care.  In 2005 she became a Visiting Education Fellow to the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute Liverpool

Drs Ruud Oderkerk

An M.D who spent fifteen years as a professional full time skills-trainer including “teaching skills. Three years ago he returned to work as a clinician.

Both trainers are very experienced in teaching professionals on an international level. They initiated the Training the Teachers Course in the Netherlands in 1994 under the auspices of EAPC.

Since then, this course has travelled worldwide. It has travelled to Scandinavian countries, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Australia and South America. It has now been taught both in multi-and uni-disciplinary formats and in various languages. It was first taught in Liverpool in 1999, and since then has been repeated in Liverpool on a biannual basis.
